Nothing changes up your look faster than a Dupatta drape.
While there are some standard drapes that everybody knows-The dupatta has long
been a symbol of modesty in South Asian dress. A dupatta is a long
headscarf popular in traditional clothing of many Asian cultures. Also called a
chunni, the scarf is commonly seen throughout India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
The scarf can be draped over the head and shoulders in many different ways, and
can be worn with everything from pantsuits to evening gowns. Dupatta can be
made from many kinds of fabric. It is often heavily embroidered or made with a
contrasting border.
Phulkari Dupatta:
Phulkari is the most fascinating work of
art which is done by the women folks of the Punjab region. Women particular
have been fond of the beautiful colours and have used them for embroidery and
knitting. Phulkari Dupatta is best complimented with salwar suits. Many young
girls like to pair them with jeans and top, skirts and evening dresses as well.
Khada Dupatta: Khada Dupatta is part of the Muslim wedding ensemble. It is highly embellished and comes with a wide elaborate border. The dupatta is usually made of net material and embroidered with zardozi work.
Bandhani Dupatta: Bandhani has become a popular
tie and dye all over the country. The art work is used for various occasions
and imparts new meaning. Bandhani is quite in style and refers to the wavy
pattern of a fabric processed in the tie dye technique.
Cotton Dupatta: This piece of garment has become
more than just a cover and cultural more. Cotton Dupatta in Batik or Bandhani
print or embroidered using the Kantha or
Ari style looks elegant with jeans, skirts, dresses n more.
The style of the scarf has
existed nearly untouched for hundreds of years, and looks to continue spreading
its beauty and usefulness throughout the global culture. Dupatta is both a
fashion statement and an adornment.
